A botanical garden
What I regret is not the city of Rome disappeared that I have not seen, nor the people who were better until now only because they had nothing and could afford to be generous without losing anything. I miss the place that could have been, because I imagined that so practically I have seen.
Rome could have been a botanical garden and archaeological park most sensational art within at least four or five continents. The archaeological museum could be part of forest and agricultural museums, the historic center could have been surrounding forests, vineyards and orchards at the same time you have outposts in the certificate villas wooded forests and the Tiber, and the headquarters of the Superintendent could be done on top of a redwood tree (for the first centuries, waiting for the growth of the tree, the office was actually a bit 'strettino).
I do not regret that Rome was the city, I regret that in Rome there is still a city, instead of a cultural nature reserve.
But if you demolish the buildings back to the nineteen (almost all) and planting new carpet throughout the province, the situation could improve. The Tiber
could return, not only for bathing, but drinking as well as blond.
And instead of squalid stalls of the Roman festival of poetry can be arranged between the junipers of Corso Vittorio, the impromptu painting in the pine forest of Piazza Venezia, or the feast of zucchini gratin of vegetables in the greenhouse Media Circus Massimo. Tarzan would be swimming at the intersection of Aniene and the Tiber. The biennial Bulgarian restored silent film would have its own charm and a certain success in the setting of lush tropical plants of the Park of San Giovanni in Laterano. And like so many amenities that can be invented.
Think about it, and after thinking about it, trasferiamoci to ruin another place.
